It’s was great but when do your ears stop ringing?

Richard Linklaters other two live-action-rotoscoped films are two of my favourite films of all time. (Waking Life and a Scanner Darkly.) So imagine my excitement when I see this is out.
Aaaaand….. It’s an interesting film, great concept, and the animation still has that (seemingly) done-by-the-frame charm as the previous ones, but It gets lost on a nostalaga trip for a very long time. Maybe if I had any connection to the place and time In question I would have gotten lost with it. But it was kinda lost on me.
It eventually won me back over though. So that’s something. Worth a watch but don’t feel bad if you fast forward some of it.

We went into this on a bad movie night, assuming it was going to be some Geostorm level nonsense, but it was actually alright. High point being some impressively creative action scenes. Low point being that uncomfortable feeling that your watching literal US propaganda.

Bad Movie Night pick, utterly baffling from start to finish. Appears to be a classic case of delusional director funding their own film, but unfortunately it almost never reaches “So Bad its Good” territory. Its just bad, apart from a James Bond rip off card game near the end which was hilarious.
